| - Gaiole in Chianti |
DESCRIPTION Like a fairytale, the Castle announces itself in the enchanting Chianti landscape at the end of a pleasant driveway lined with cypresses and junipers, amid sun-kissed fields and vineyards.
A magnificent testimony of history and the industrious presence of man.
Today more than ever we are invited to plunge into the peacefulness of the countryside to savour its tastes and perfumes - wine, the odour of cellars and oil-mills, the wood of the furniture, grain, the thousand essences of field and meadow - forgetting time and its frenetic rhythms on the other side of the hills.
The Castle welcomes and embraces the visitor, the tourist, the lover of nature.
It's like an oasis, a parallel dimension to be experienced in its rhythms set by habits and customs great and small, millenary, which have given rise to a vast range of products today, all of highest quality, the fruit of research that unites modern technology with the contribution made by deep and ancient traditions.
The imposing bulk of Castle stands in the heart of Chianti Classico, not far from the boundary between the ancient Republics of Siena and Florence, about 1 Km from Gaiole in Chianti.
APPARTMENTS A dreamlike place no longer exclusive to the Tuscan aristocracy but also open to you.
The Castle , like Brolio Castle a fortification of the Florentines against the Sienese, belonged to the Ricasoli family who sold the great estate of about 1.100 hectares to the Società Viticola Toscana in 1968.
In the centre of the estate, high on the hill, the Castle fortress seems to survey the whole Farm. In summer 1998 six apartments were created by rehabilitating estate outhouses directly built onto the Castle wall or fortification.
Each of these six apartments has a terrace or garden for life in the open air.
Just 100- 150 metres away there's a fine swimming pool.
The Castle is in the Municipality of Gaiole , about 1 kilometre from the built up area.
In Gaiole and environs there are many pizza parlours, restaurants and inns to suit all tastes and pockets.
And from the Castle you can make easy day trips to Florence , Siena , San Gimignano, Arezzo , Perugia , Montalcino, Montepulciano, Chianciano, Bagni Vignoni, Pitigliano and Saturnia.
From the Castle you can walk or organise bicycle excursions, but for a pleasant stay with plenty of opportunities we advise a car.
