DESCRIPTION
Originally a fifteenth century farmhouse, the borgo is now a stylish country residence providing you with comfortable Bed & Breakfast accommodation, a perfect venue for weddings, special events and gatherings, archery, art and cookery classes and relaxation.
Located on an 80-acre estate surrounded by ancient oak trees and olive groves, offering complete privacy on a panoramic and prestigious hilltop position close to the historic village of Monteriggioni, Siena, the borgo is strategically situated within the Firenze-Siena-Arezzo-Pisa triangle, providing an idyllic base from which to explore the treasures of Tuscany.
The main building is comprised of a beautifully renovated, stone house with 12 large air-conditioned bedrooms, each complete with satellite TV, mini-bar and en-suite shower/bathroom. Access to the house is gained through a walled courtyard where breakfast is served during the warmer months of the year.
Opposite the house is a spacious patio with fig trees where you can simply soak up the sun in summer.
There are also two terraces, a separate lounge/study area, a conference centre and a gymnasium.
And when you fancy a dip, the swimming pool is located just a short walk through the park.

The borgo dates back to the fifteenth century and set against a fascinating and rich historical background, we discovered that the hilly terrain surrounding the property once enabled rain water to be collected in troughs scattered around the area.
This water was not only used by the farmers who occupied the house, but also served as drinking water for the many animals which roamed the dense forests that clothed the slopes of Monte Maggio.
One of these original water troughs has evolved into a 10m x 8m swimming pool with a uniform depth of 1,80m.
In order for us to maintain the right balance between modern living and the natural habitat, the pool has been carefully constructed using materials designed to maintain a good contrast between the reddish brown colours of the earth (Terra di Siena) so unique to this area of Tuscany, and the green hues of the flora.
Today, the landscape surrounding our pool continues to sustain a variety of flora and is a patchwork of Macchia or Mediterranean shrub, Juniper (Juniperus Communis), Evergreen Oaks (Lecci = Quercus Ilex) Manna Ash (Fraxinus Ornus) and Strawberry trees (Arbutus Unedo). Located some 300-400 metres from the house, you can reach the swimming pool via a wooded lane surrounded by olive groves. Both the lane and the pool is illuminated at night, providing you with an ideal, romantic setting from which to enjoy wonderful, natural oasis that surrounds us at Borgo.
So prepare yourself for the wonderful spectacle of the Tuscan country side.
